How to keep your bathroom mould-free

Quick tips

  1. Ensure you have a quality exhaust fan that is cleaned regularly of dust and switched on every time the shower is used.

  2. Open a window. This is particularly important if you don’t have a working exhaust fan!

  3. Leave the bathroom door open after the shower has been used so all of the steam can escape.

  4. Clean your bathroom regularly! A simple solution of vinegar and water with some light scrubbing can keep mould at bay. If you feel you need something a little more heavy duty, especially if there’s already a mould build-up, Selley’s Rapid Mould Killer works a treat. http://www.productreview.com.au/p/selleys-rapid-mould-killer.html

Stubborn mould

  1. If mould keeps coming back on painted ceilings and walls, consider painting your ceilings and walls with a mould resistant paint.

  2. If you’ve scrubbed and bleached to no avail, it may be that the mould has made its way under the grout. This can be caused by aging grout. Consider re-grouting with a mould-resistant grout.
